Guidelines
for Public Participation...
The Board of Trustees solicits the
advice and counsel of citizens. To encourage this participation, the Board
has established a public participation period on the agenda of each
regular Board Meeting. The following procedures have been established by
the Board for those persons interested in addressing the Board.
1. One week prior to Board meeting, contact the Superintendent's Office to be placed on Agenda.
2. The Chairman will recognize each person and designate the time allowed. (An individual may address the Board for up to 5 minutes. The 5 minutes time may be reduced if more than 3 persons wish to address the Board.
3. In public session, the Board will not hear personal complaints of school personnel nor complaints against any person connected with the school system. Other channels provide for Board consideration and disposition of legitimate complaints involving individuals.
4. Persons appearing before the Board are
reminded that individual members of the Board are without authority to act
independently in official matters; thus, questions may be directed to Board
members, but answers must be deferred pending consideration by the Board.
The Board may elect to discuss the matter within time limitations, but action
will not normally be taken until a subsequent meeting.
