About Me
I have lived in Lexington, SC most of my life. In 1984, I attended the University of South Carolina. I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1989. I recieved my master of Arts in Teaching; (MAT) in 1991. I am certified to teach art to kindergarten students up to twelfth grade students. After graduation, I got married and moved to Leesville, where We lived for 15 years with my husband, Jim. We have 2 girls, Alia, and Joelle.
I began my teaching career in a small district of Orangburg district one; norway, springfield and Neeses. I taught 1/2 a day at the primary school, and 1/2 a day at the High school. When I had my first child, Alia, I chose to stay home with her. I then started my own art school called" U can 2 art school" I taught private, semi-private and group classes for 9 years. I taught ages 4 to ages 65!!!
I Came to Saluda school district in 2005 and taught at SMS for 2 years. I have been teaching at Hollywood for one year.
We have some exceptional artists at our school, and I truly enjoy coming here every day to see what their minds will create! In my free time I like gardening and reading. One of my favorite art media is clay, which I try to work with as often as possible. I like to hand build as well as making pots on a pottery wheel. I mostly love to work in graphite, and charcoal pencils. My passion is portraits., Which you will see when you visit my room. "High School Musical" is well represented!
