2006-2007 District Teacher of the Year- Lynn Perry
Mrs. Lynn Perry was nominated Teacher of the Year from Saluda High School, and was then selected as District Teacher for 2006-2007.
Mrs. Perry stated in her portfolio that being an educator is an important, challenging, and rewarding career. "I grew up around educators and the school-talk. Teaching was an easy choice for me. I have an extreme love for people and children." The joy of teaching is evident by the drive and enthusiasm that Mrs. Perry displays in her classroom where she teaches mathematics to students in grades 9-12. "Most students lack personal confidence in math, but by the end of the course, they generally change their minds as they develop better mathematical skills. This is the joy of teaching with a measurable outcome," added Mrs. Perry.
Aside from teaching mathematics, Mrs. Perry serves as trainer and mentor for student teacher training, department chairperson, and chairperson for the SACS review for Saluda High School. She also is active in the community serving on different organizations, committees and church functions.
It is her belief that education is to engage, encourage, and praise students so that learning will develop and students will perform. She stated, "I truly believe the following quote:" Our job as a teacher is to make every single student feel like a winner."- Allen Glenn.
The District extends congratulations and best wishes to Mrs. Perry as she represents Saluda County Schools and competes for State Teacher of the Year!
